Poor Engineers

This joke had me in histerics..... maybe it's just me?!

Dilbert's "Salary Theorem" states that "Engineers and scientists can never earn as much as business executives, sales people, accountants and especially liberal arts majors." This theorem can now be supported by a mathematical equation based on the following two well known postulates:

Postulate 1: Knowledge is Power.
Postulate 2: Time is Money.

As every engineer knows: Power = Work / Time.
Since: Knowledge = Power, then Knowledge = Work / Time, and Time = Money, then Knowledge = Work / Money.
Solving for Money, we get: Money = Work / Knowledge.
Thus, as Knowledge approaches zero, money approaches infinity, regardless of the amount of work done.

A short......ish break

Well, I'm going to be honest, at present I don't feel intellegent enougth to write any more posts for a while, after all they have all been a bit lacking in content so far haven't they?! In view of that I've decided to take a break from blogging, not quit, take a break! I'll keep checking for comments and reading other's blogs, but I just don't want he abuse from the others telling me to post so I thought I'd let you know!

The following quote holds true for me recently I have often regretted my speech, never my silence. Publilius Syrus so I'll remain silent for a bit.

I will be back though!

Sorry Everyone.....

You'll have to put up with me all summer! I got the job I've been holding out for, even though I thought I messed up the interview..... Result! It's an Engineering based research job for 2 months so I'm not going to be wasting my training.

Other news is I have a new car thanks to my parents and have been told that I should receive my degree results in the next week or so - I'll let you know when I get them.

Well, I've Finished!

Just finished my last exam at Swansea Institute, so thats hopefully the degree complete (obviously there may be a resit needed, but I'm confident thats not the case)! Only annoyance is that I won;t get my degree or even a mark until this strike thingy is sorted...... Thought it wasn't going to affect me, but apparently my examining board is not going to do it's job!

I don't get this strike thing, you either withhold all your labour and 'strike' whilst losing a couple of days pay, or you get on with it..... yet everyone seems to be going in working and deciding that they don;t fancy marking work, but still want pay because they are in.... thats not a strike, thats not doingh their job properly. Sack um unless they mark my paper!

Well, now I'm a man of leisure until i find a job, which I hope isn't too long because 50 minuets after my last exam I'm already bored!

The season finally gets underway...

Bank holiday monday sees the return of the adrenilin rush, that is Sprinting, for me at Llandow Cricuit near Bridgend. I'm competing in the car above, against my father and currently he's beating me about 10 to 1 (the one coming from last year at Llandow, so it boads well). Only thing is that tuesday is my final exam! Oh well, I guess all work and no play would make me even more boring than I seem!

I just hope there's no rain on Monday!

A years worth of work in 20 minutes!

Well, I write today after completing the requirements for my major project as part of my degree which concluded with a 20 minute presentation of the project.

Suffice to say I was a little..... nervous and worried as my next years plans rest on me securing the correct grade to be eligible for funding - nothing like a little bit of added pressure. On top of that I almost lost my voice yesterday with a cold and I was one of those chosen for the external examiner to assess. Little sleep last night; although I am very thankful to the support given by certain inderviduals, which gave me the boost in confidence I so desperately needed.

Can't say how I felt it went..... but it wasn't perfect.... so im just waiting and hoping my work and how I presented it was up to scratch....Should find out my grades for the project on Saturday.... hopefully, so I'll let you know how I did.

All that remains is a single, 2 hour exam (although I expect this to be difficult), to receive my degree result (by mail, as I have opted not to attend the graduation ceremony - to the surprise of many of my friends and family) and then to get on with the rest of life.
